Senior Oracle DBA / Configuration Manager – Regio: Rotterdam

Our client is an international end-user for international trade in grain, seeds, biodiesel, cotton and sugar, among other things. This organization is active in over 35 countries worldwide that are all committed to the purchase, sale and processing of these raw materials. In the Netherlands, our client is represented by 350 future colleagues, 70 of whom are FTEs focused purely on IT.
Together with 12 colleagues you form the Core Engineering Team. Together you are responsible for the management, support and further development of the databases / storage network and VMware. You work closely with the other teams within the IT Operations department to ensure a globally sound and stable IT environment. That is why you work with the internal development department on a daily basis to ensure perfect coordination.
The Oracle DBA is responsible for independently setting up, configuring, upgrading and managing Oracle Server environments, among others. You follow the trends in the market to see which new technologies can contribute to the entire IT environment, where necessary you implement them naturally with great pleasure. Every day you’ll communicate with colleagues from your own team, other teams or from the development department. You are also part of the DevOps team for ESB (Enterprise Service Bus).
With your entrepreneurial spirit, curious look and strong sense of responsibility, you are the link that ensures that the IT organization comes one step closer to the future every day. And how do you configure this? Both Puppet and Chef are currently being used.
You are able to write Technical designs and have experience with performance tuning, under your management no system that does not run perfectly! The perfect candidate understands Oracle tools such as Linux, Red Hat, Dataguard, Oracle Grid Control and rman. You are not afraid of new technologies: You embrace the challenge and see it as a great learning moment when new innovations appear on the market. You also have:
Bachelor degree is prefered;
Minimum 5 years experience as an Oracle dBA (preferably version 12);
Proven track record when it comes to independently managing, upgrading and managing Oracle Server environments;
Willingness to run standby service (1x per 6 weeks).
